Warehousing members at The Beer Store achieve better wages, benefits – UFCW 12R24

Hospitality members at Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre win gainsLondon and Windsor, Ontario – April 6, 2019 – Warehouse clerks at The Beer Store in London and Windsor have voted unanimously to ratify their second collective agreement as proud members of UFCW Canada Local 12R24.

“We achieved many improvements in this round of bargaining,” says Doug Blaine, Secretary-Treasurer of UFCW 12R24 and bargaining committee spokesperson. “We fought hard and the results are obvious,” he adds.

The Beer Store warehouse clerks in London and Windsor voted to join the union in May 2016.

“This is a great contract for the membership,” says Lauren Hamilton, UFCW 12R24 union steward and bargaining committee member. “In this agreement, we were able to achieve more full-time and permanent part-time positions, increased benefits, and significant wage gains for all members,” she continues.

Members of the bargaining committee included: Doug Blaine, Secretary-Treasurer, Service Representative & Committee Spokesperson; Craig McDowell, Recorder/Organizing and Political Action; Lauren Hamilton, Steward (London Distribution Centre), Andrew Berthiaume, Member (Windsor Cross – Dock).
