Hospitality workers at Courtyard by Marriott join the union – UFCW 1006A

Hospitality members at Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre win gainsMississauga, Ont. – March 29, 2019 – Workers at the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Mississauga West hotel are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 1006A after recently voting to join the union.

The 50 hospitality members work in a variety of positions at the hotel, including front desk, bistro, kitchen, porters, housekeeping, night auditors, and maintenance. They joined the union to achieve fair treatment at work.

“UFCW Canada Local 1006A would like to congratulate the new members at Courtyard by Marriott and welcome them to our union family,” says Wayne Hanley, President of UFCW 1006A. “Hotel workers know they can count on 1006A to achieve fairness, respect, and dignity at work,” he adds.

“This group of workers showed tremendous determination in working together for a better future,” says Lesley Prince, Organizing Coordinator at the local union.
