“This scholarship is important to me as it will help me afford the resources I need in order to make me a successful student,” says Brother Bruijns. “As I look to pursue a career in the mental health field, I hope my educational expertise can be used to help those who need it most: marginalized and at-risk populations.”

The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship offers a total of $18,000 in scholarships to UFCW Canada members and their families, and is one of more than 25 union scholarships available to members and their families every year, totaling more than $300,000.

“Coming from a unionized work environment, I understand the importance of helping others, and how teamwork and solidarity can help making change happen,” adds Gerryt. “These are the kinds of values I look to bring to the mental health field. Thank you UFCW Canada for helping me achieve this goal!”
