UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Kevin Ly, UFCW 175

Toronto – September 3, 2018 – Kevin Ly, son of proud UFCW Canada Local 175 member Suc Hoa Ly, is a winner of this year’s UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship.

Suc Hoa is a member of the Mondelez unit in Toronto, where some of Canada’s most iconic chocolate products are made, including Crispy Crunch chocolate bars, Cadbury Mini-Eggs, and many more Canadian favourites.

Kevin is currently enrolled as an honours student at York University, dedicated to the completion of Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

“The UFCW Canada scholarship will allow me to continue working hard, knowing expenses for textbooks and software won’t be a problem and will help me to successfully achieve my goals,” says Kevin.

“I feel motivated knowing that there is a union out there looking out for me and inspires me to pass on good deeds to other people. I wish all students the best of luck and hope that opportunities like this will be bestowed upon them as well.”

The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship offers a total of $18,000 to UFCW Canada members and their families, and is one of more than 25 union scholarships available to members and their families every year, totaling $300,000-plus.

The deadline to apply for the BDM scholarship for 2018 is September 30^th.
