ACL members in Manitoba achieve new contract

ACL members in Manitoba achieve new contractVirden, Man. – July 24, 2018 – UFCW Local 832 members at the Association for Community Living (ACL) in Virden, Manitoba recently ratified a new contract by 100 per cent.

Despite hard bargaining by the employer, fuelled by the austerity agenda of the Brian Pallister conservative government, the Local Union committee successfully fought back against concession demands, and was able to clean-up contract language to benefit the membership.

The new deal also revamps and improves the night shift allocation process.

ACL Virden provides housing to people with developmental disabilities, and supports families through advocacy, individual consultation, and training and information. ACL members provide essential support by helping clients with their daily needs, including eating, bathing, doctor appointments, and recreational activities.

In addition to the members at ACL, and the life-changing impact of their work, UFCW Canada is proud to represent more than 12,000 UFCW Canada across various social and healthcare sectors, including family services, nursing care, and addictions recovery support.
