Aramark members at Bridgepoint Hospital ratify new agreement – UFCW 175

Toronto – June 19, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working for Aramark at the Bridgepoint Hospital in Toronto have recently ratified a new three-year agreement.

As part of the new contract, each member will receive $25 per year toward the purchase of CSA-approved safety footwear.

A new wage grid provides language to ensure that rates stay ahead of the minimum wage. Plus members will receive retroactive pay that reflects the new grid, and for hours worked since the expiry of the previous contract.

Full-time workers will receive two paid sick days per year on top of the two paid Personal Emergency Leave (PEL) days provided for in new legislation enacted this year. In addition, the contract no longer contains language allowing the company to request a second medical opinion.

New language also addresses Pay Equity laws that came into force with Bill 148 on January 1. Lastly, the contract contains improved probation language of 60 days worked or six months, whichever comes first.
