webCampus Spotlight: Linda Romanick

Toronto – January 7, 2013 – The webCampus courses are terrific! I was able to take the Health and Safety courses that interest me, work to complete them at my own pace, and attempt pragmatic thought-provoking assignments.

I loved that the courses could be taken in the comfort of my own home with my own computer. They were not overwhelming and I like that they are offered monthly and can also be completed monthly as well. Test and assignment results were provided in a timely fashion. The online courses allowed for good instructional feedback and regular online discussions. My husband is part of Local 1000A, so I was able to take these courses absolutely free – a real plus!

I particularly like the collaboration UFCW Canada has with Mohawk College. The Health and Safety courses I took online were equivalent to Mohawk college course credits.  I was able to attain the Health and Safety Certificate from the college. These courses allowed me the chance to learn, grow and develop in a new and different area. I have since become the Health and Safety Representative for my own workplace. For some, the opportunity to have taken these courses might even open the door to a new career.

In the end, the main benefit for me is continuous lifelong learning and education. And I value the opportunity to do so. To take more online courses and hopefully obtain more college certification are future goals of mine.

Thanks so much UFCW Canada.
