First contract for members at Provigo Chicoutimi-Nord – UFCW 501

Chicoutimi, Que. – March 22, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at Provigo in Chicoutimi, Quebec have ratified a first contract that includes wage increases, new bonuses, and more.  

Under the new six-year agreement, members will enjoy the following gains:

• A 2% annual wage increase;

• A 2% Christmas bonus;

• A signing bonus based on seniority;

• A bonus for checkout supervisors;

• Personal leave will be increased from 44 to 56 hours;

• The store will create four new regular, full-time positions;

• The employer will contribute to the FTQ Solidarity Fund RRSP; and

• The employer has also undertaken to contribute to the UFCW Quebec Dental Plan.

“We are very pleased with the excellent results that we have achieved for the members at this Saguenay-area supermarket,” says Daniel Nadeau, the UFCW 501 Director for Eastern Quebec. “All six bargaining sessions were marked by trust and mutual respect, and members will see their working conditions improve as a result of this agreement,” he adds.
