Members at Sunrise Poultry achieve historic new contract – UFCW 1518New Westminster, B.C. – August 8, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 1518 members working at Sunrise Poultry plants across British Columbia have recently achieved a historic new contract that brings strong gains to members.

Sunrise is a processor and distributor of fresh chicken, meat, and non-meat products. UFCW Local 1518 represents three processing plants throughout British Columbia. 

The new contract features significant wage increases, making it one of the strongest contracts in B.C.'s poultry industry. Members will receive wage improvements of between 8 and 12 percent, with pay retroactive to July 1, 2016. Other highlights include increases to most health and welfare benefits, as well as a $100 signing bonus.  

The union negotiating committee included UFCW 1518 members Ray Sereduik, Charles Loro, Jesse McCormick, and Chief Shop Steward Kevin Sparkes, as well as Local 1518 Director Kim Balmer.
