London, Ont. – August 4, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 1006A members and allies from across Southwestern Ontario were out in full force on July 30 to participate in London’s Pride parade.
As part of the event, participants waved rainbow Pride flags, donned brightly-coloured clothing and hats, and danced and cheered along Queens Avenue and Wellington Street in the culmination of the Forest City’s annual Pride Festival.
"It was amazing to celebrate London Pride with my union," says Paul Milam, a UFCW 1006A member who works at Real Canadian Superstore. "Thank you to Local 1006A for supporting workers' rights and equality.”
An estimated 10,000 people turned out for this year’s parade, where large crowds and beautiful weather combined for a colourful and joyous end to the 11-day festival.
"It meant so much that my union took part in Pride in my community – I was happy to see the incredible participation from our union," Milam adds.
