Members at Imperial Parking achieve new agreement – UFCW 175

Ottawa – April 1, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Imperial Parking in Ottawa have overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year agreement that includes wage increases, language improvements, and more.

Imperial Parking, more commonly known as Impark, is one the of the largest parking management companies in North America, operating approximately 3,400 parking facilities in over 100 cities.

As per the new agreement, members will receive wage increases of 2 percent in the first year, retroactive for hours worked since September 2016, and 2.2 percent over the final years of the contract. There has also been an improvement to the night shift premium, and members who work alone will now receive paid lunch breaks.

Language improvements address the on-call list and bereavement entitlement. Stewards will now receive two days' leave per year to attend union training and conferences. The employer will also now pay $25 for doctor's notes when required, and will also contribute $200 per year to the UFCW Canada Local 175 Leukemia Fund.

As well, the employer will contribute $300 per year toward the Local Union’s Education & Training Fund, and negotiating committee members will also receive 100 percent reimbursement for their lost-time during collective bargaining.

The union negotiating committee included Jama Abdi, Bjama Abdo Wais, Faisal Mohamed Jama, and UFCW Canada Local 175 Representatives Jacques Niquet and Lionel MacEachern.
