UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Giuseppe Sipione, UFCW 1006A

UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Giuseppe Sipione, UFCW 1006AToronto – September 26, 2016 – Giuseppe Sipione is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2015.

Currently enrolled in the Personal Support Worker program at Humber College North Campus in Toronto, Brody is a proud UFCW Canada Local 1006A member who works at Answernet Telepartners.

Brother Sipione had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:

“I have been a volunteer helping with community programs, fundraising, harm reduction, and homeless outreach for a while now. The PSW program is an opportunity to take this work to the next level by learning how to assist elderly and disabled people with social support and home management skills. During the first semester of my program, it was extremely challenging balancing a full-time course load with my job. However, this scholarship is motivating me to complete the next semester and attend my community and nursing home placements. The financial support that the UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship is providing me with will extend beyond myself because it will allow me to help improve the lives of people who are suffering from a variety of health issues, including isolation and mental illness. I would like to thank UFCW Canada for awarding me this scholarship!”

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.

The deadline to apply for the 2016 UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship is September 30, 2016. To find out more about this renowned union scholarship, or to apply online, click here.
