Mackenzie Co-Op workers ratify new deal – UFCW 1518

Mackenzie, B.C. – August 20, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1518 members working at the Mackenzie Co-Op in Mackenzie, British Columbia have ratified a new collective agreement.

Mackenzie Co-Op is a full service grocery store, with an in-store deli and floral shop.

The new four-year collective agreement includes wage increases of 2% per year, with the addition of a signing bonus.

Other gains include new contract language that gives members the ability to use unused sick time for medical emergencies and family illnesses. There was also an increase to bereavement leave time.

Members will also now be able to maximize their hours through cross-department work, which gives them the choice to be trained and work in other areas of the store.

The contract also includes improved vacation language. The new language allows for single vacation days, giving more flexibility in use of vacation time.
