Members at Fromagerie d’Oka achieve new contract – UFCW 1991P

Oka, Que. – July 14, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1991P members working at Fromagerie d’Oka, a cheese factory in Oka, Quebec, have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new collective agreement following a number of intense bargaining sessions.

Over the course of the seven-year contract, members will see their wages increase by $4.15 per hour and will also enjoy improved benefits.

A major highlight of the new agreement is the redesigned work schedule, which will now include lunch breaks. In addition, the contract provides a signing bonus of $300 per employee, along with retroactive increases amounting to more than $3,400 per member.

“I would like to thank the bargaining committee and its representative, Pierre Meloche, for coming together to greatly improve the working conditions of members at the Oka cheese factory,” says Mario Maisonneuve, President of UFCW Canada Local 1991P. “The new contract provides enhanced job security, a better working environment, and significant wage and benefit gains for members, and we should all be very proud of that,” he adds.
