Members at Legion Village achieve new agreement – UFCW 175Cobourg, Ont. – June 11, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 175 Health, Office & Professional Employees (HOPE) sector members working at the Legion Village retirement home in Cobourg, Ontario have achieved a new collective agreement.

The new two-year contract includes wage increases of two per cent for all classifications in Year One, retroactive for hours worked since April 1, and another two per cent in the Year Two.

Members also receive an increase in paid sick days to four per year, up from three-and-a-half. The contract also includes an improvement to vacation entitlement for full-time employees, to provide seven weeks at 14% after 30 years of service with the employer.

Additional language provides an increase to the uniform allowance, and paid meals for members working double shifts.

The union negotiating committee included Tammy Elder, Tracy Samis, Ann Tozak and union representative Dean McLaren.
