Elliot Lake, Ont. – May 28, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at the Foodland grocery store in Elliot Lake, Ontario have ratified a new collective agreement.
The new three-year agreement includes a lump sum payment of $500 for full-time employees and $250 for part-time employees at the end-rate in the first year. Members will also receive an end-rate increase of $0.25 per hour in year two, and another lump sum payment of $500 for full-time employees and $250 for part-time employees at the end-rate. The part-time wage grid includes adjustments so that progression rates stay ahead of any adjustments made to the provincial minimum wage.
The contract also has language changes to increase the number of hours for part-time employees to 24 hours per week. Full-time employees will also receive an additional paid sick day.
The union negotiating committee included Christopher Mayhew, April Porter, Stephane Tellier, and union representative Jeff Barry.
