My webCampus Experience: Adrian Rhodes

London, Ont. – November 2, 2015 – UFCW Canada members and allies across the country are raving about the union's groundbreaking online education program, webCampus, which offers free online courses to all UFCW Canada members, their family members, and community partners.

Many UFCW Canada members and allies take webCampus courses out of personal interest, while others see them as a way to develop their knowledge and professional skills.

Adrian Rhodes is a UFCW Canada ally who first discovered webCampus through a mail-out from the Workers' Action Centre in Toronto. Since registering for webCampus in March 2014, Adrian has completed 15 courses through the program. He had the following to say about his experience with webCampus:

"I started taking webCampus courses because I wanted more training and I knew that many employers in Canada do not train their workers. I also wanted to have something to bring to an interview in order to be taken seriously. Having course certificates showed that I was engaged, committed, and willing to see things through.

I was committed to finding work and having a course on the go forced me to be more organized with my time and my resources.

My favourite course is Introduction to ISO 9000. I found that I understood what was presented and I want to learn more about the topics explored in the course. I’m also using the techniques that I gained from this course at my current job, which is great!

I intend to keep taking courses as I find them, as I think the certificates have helped me with interviews and job skills.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to take webCampus courses. And the best part is that they're free and all you need is internet access and a computer! These courses helped me get a job, and now they are helping my wife and I climb out of poverty."
