UFCW Canada activists Light the Night across the country

Edmonton, Winnipeg & Quebec City – October 3, 2015 – Over the course of the same evening in three different provinces, UFCW Canada activists joined thousands of walkers for annual Light the Night fundraising events to raise hope and funds for blood cancer research, outreach and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

The Light the Night Walk is an evening gathering with family and friends in select sites across Canada to bring light to the dark world of cancer. Thousands of walkers carry illuminated lanterns showcasing their relation to the cause; a white lantern for blood cancer patients and survivors, a red lantern to walk as a supporter, and a gold lantern in memory of a loved one lost.

Thousands of participants gathered at Light the Night events on September 26 across Canada in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Quebec City – where the united efforts of UFCW Canada Locals, 401, 832 and 503 raised over $80,000 for the LLSC. The walks kicked off a series of national walks across the country.
