Your vote matters! Register to vote

Toronto – September 30, 2015 – The October 19 election is your chance to elect a new government that cares about the things that matter most to people like good jobs, quality healthcare, affordable day care, and retirement security for all Canadians — but to make that happen, you have to be registered to vote, know where you’re voting, and what to bring as proper identification.

Here’s how get registered!

It’s simple. Just visit elections.ca.

You can also register on the spot when you go to vote, but bring the right ID.

Where to vote

• VOTE at any Elections Canada office

• VOTE at your ADVANCE POLL, October 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th (from noon until 8 pm)

• VOTE on ELECTION DAY, October 19^th

The right identification (id)

• Show one piece of government-issued ID, which must include a NAME, PHOTO, and your CURRENT ADDRESS (e.g., a driver’s license, provincial or territorial ID card);

or

• Show two pieces of ID, one piece with your NAME and another with your NAME and ADDRESS (e.g., health card and phone bill, or debit card and bank statement);

or

• Take an oath, show two pieces of ID with your name, and have someone who knows you attest to your address (this person must show proof of identity and address and be registered in the same polling division);

or

• Provide a letter of confirmation of residence, letter of stay, admission form, or statement of benefits from one of the designated establishments: student residence, senior residence, shelter, or soup kitchen.
