Harrison, B.C. – August 27, 2015 – Canada's leading union for young workers recently concluded another exciting week of dynamic learning and training with UFCW youth activists from across Western Canada at the UFCW Canada Young Workers Internship Program session in Harrison, British Columbia.

Members from UFCW Canada Locals 401, 1118, 1518, and 247 participated in a week-long session that explored topics such as working collectively and how young workers can become more involved in their union and in their communities.

The Western YIP group continued the successful "Humans of UFCW" campaign, a social media initiative that features a collection of portraits of UFCW Canada members and their stories. The young activists also produced a video in preparation for Labour Day.

"It is truly inspiring to see these young workers take an interest in their union, " says UFCW Canada National Representative Pablo Godoy. "UFCW Canada has always been at the forefront of the labour movement when it comes to engaging young members. Almost half of the participants this week were local union stewards, and many have indicated that they want to become more involved in their union," Brother Godoy adds.

The 2015 Young Workers Internship Program will now head to Montreal for its fifth session of the year. For more information about YIP, click here. You can also follow the program on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
