Workers at Kitimat Recycling join the union – UFCW 247

Kitimat, B.C. – April 22, 2015 – UFCW Canada Local 247 is proud to welcome workers at the Kitimat Recycling depot (KUTE) as the newest members of the Local Union. The BC Labour Relations Board certified the new Local 247 bargaining unit after a majority of workers voted "YES" to join the union.

Kitimat Understanding the Environment (or KUTE) operates as an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) recycling centre.

"The employees at KUTE have chosen UFCW Canada 247 as their bargaining agent as they felt UFCW was the best choice to represent their needs and get them a solid contract," said Local 247 organizer Steve McAusland.

UFCW Canada Local 247 will be contacting the employer shortly to commence bargaining.
