UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship Winner: Youssef Farhi

Montreal – February 21, 2015 – Youssef Farhi is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2014. Currently enrolled in the Multimedia Integration program at the College de Maisonneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Youssef is the son of UFCW Canada Local 501 member El Mostafa Farhi, who works at ADM Milling Co.

"This scholarship will allow me to purchase a high performance desktop or laptop computer, which will help me complete my school assignments and personal work," says Brother Farhi.

"I love the college courses that I am currently taking, and having received the UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship, I will be in a better position to meet my technical and material needs. I am very grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship," he adds.

Youssef was recently presented with the $1,000 union scholarship cheque by UFCW Canada Local 501 President Alain Lachaine, who is pictured here with Brother Farhi.

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of eighteen union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.
