Toronto – February 13, 2015 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined hundreds of workers, students, and concerned citizens at a major rally of unity and strength to stand in solidarity with Ontario Nurses' Assocation (ONA) members working at Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) across the province.

The ONA members are seeking a fair wage increase after taking a two-year wage freeze in their previous three-year contract.

The rally was preceded by a vigil held outside of the Ministry of Labour building in downtown Toronto. Demonstrators then heard from Linda Haslam-Stroud, President of the ONA, and Linda Silas, President of the Canadian Federation of Nurses’ Unions, among other speakers.

"We proudly stand in solidarity with ONA members seeking fairness in their workplaces," says UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema. "The CCAC workers provide vital health care services in communities throughout Ontario, and they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity on the job," Meinema adds.
