Edmonton, Alta. & Saskatoon, Sask. – October 16, 2014 – UFCW activists and family members helped raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) through Light the Night events held recently across the Prairies. While it was a cold evening in Edmonton on September 27, that didn’t dampen the spirits of a team of marchers from UFCW Canada Local 1118, whose combined efforts raised over $2,200 through individual pledges and employer donations.

In Saskatchewan, UFCW Canada Local 1400 activists and family members added thousands of dollars more through their efforts at Light the Night events in Regina and Saskatoon. In Regina, on October 4, participants marched from Wascana Park to the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. In Saskatoon, on October 5, participants carried light-filled balloons in a five kilometre twilight walk commencing at Kiwanis Park. Local 1400 is a major and founding sponsor of Light the Night in Saskatoon — just one of a number of special fundraising events the Local Union helps organize throughout the year across Saskatchewan on behalf of the life changing work of the LLSC.
