On September 27, Local 832 in Manitoba and Local 503 in Quebec joined with hundreds of walkers in their fundraising efforts to support blood cancer research and awareness.

In Quebec, Local 503 members, families and friends raised approximately $20,000 in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). In Winnipeg, Local 832 activists joined the Light the Night Walk in the Forks and raised more than $63,000 for the life changing work of the LLSC.

“I am proud of our members and their families for making Light the Night a resounding success again this year,” says Jeff Traeger, Local 832 President, “Thank you to everyone who helped sponsor the night and everyone who raised money and joined the walk.”

As Canada’s leading union for private sector workers, UFCW Canada is the largest annual fundraising organization for the LLSC. Last year, UFCW Canada members, families and friends raised a total of more than $2.5 million for blood cancer research and awareness.
