2012 Training and Education Conference involves activists from across Canada

UFCW Canada activists and educators from across the country recently participated in another successful Training and Education Conference, hosted annually by the National Council Education and Political Action Committee.

Held in Barrie, Ontario, the Training and Education Conference involved 11 UFCW Canada Local Unions from across the country who fully engaged in the topics of learning, organizing and leading. Conference participants were especially keen to experience seminars in organizing, human rights, women rights, health and safety, communications and agricultural worker rights. The seminars highlighted the human side of being an activist as well as what it takes to encourage others to get involved.

Representatives from the National Office also delivered a Popular Media presentation that discussed new media and its impact on us as workers and members of society. Well received by everyone in attendance, the Popular Media presentation was largely based on a new webCampus course called “Media Literacy”.
