More than 100 UFCW Canada Local 1869 members recently gathered for the UFCW Canada Local 1869 After Christmas Christmas Party. The post-holiday season get-together was held in late January at the St-Louis Centre in Winnipeg's St. Boniface neighborhood. It was fun-filled evening, as well as a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

“It’s not often that Local 1869 members have a chance to get together, and connect outside the workplace to relax and share some fun," says Aline Audette, the president of UFCW Canada Local 1869. "So people had a fantastic time enjoying the festive spirit as well as the fundraising."

Local 1869 members work at the Compass Morrison Group, the Diagnostic Services of Manitoba, at St. Boniface Hospital and at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Laundry. By the end of the evening, a silent auction with a number of great prizes, raised over $1,400 for the LLSC — UFCW Canada's charity of choice.

“It was great to see the members come out and enjoy themselves," said Paul Plamondon, Executive Board Vice-President, and the D.J. for the evening, "while knowing every dollar raised goes to finding a cure for leukemia and other blood cancers.”
