Members in the Atlantic region Light the Night for Leukemia Research

Recently more than 40 UFCW Canada members from Local Unions in the Eastern Provincial Council (EPC) gathered at the Halifax Common and walked with 1,300 participants in the first annual Light the Night Walk, which raises funds in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

Proud members of the UFCW Canada EPC team raised over $24,000 for the walk. With lots of balloons and enthusiasm on display, the walkathon participants enjoyed a pleasant stroll through the Halifax streets and together raised more than $256,000 for research aimed toward finding a cure to leukemia and other blood cancers.

"From coast to coast, UFCW Canada members and their families are committed to participating in events that support advanced research and new treatments for blood cancers," says Mark Dobson, UFCW Canada Regional Director for the Eastern Provinces and President of the EPC.
