“It hasn’t changed my life much, but I hope the money will change the lives of people with leukemia,” says Albert Johnson, the UFCW Canada Local 1118 president who recently shaved off all his curly locks and moustache to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).
The Local 1118 president sat down for his sheering at the annual Local 1118 baseball tournament, where friends and fans donated $7,955.87 to the hair razoring fundraiser. The last time the Local 1118 president had look so clean cut was a decade ago — when he also donated his locks to help raise money to find a cure for leukemia and other blood cancers.
“The work and research by the LLSC is saving lives so any chance to help is great,” said Johnson. “Together we really can make a difference, so I want to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who raised the funds and all those who donated.”
