UFCW Canada wins big at CALM Awards

UFCW Canada's communication efforts were recently recognized by the Canadian Association of Labour Media at the 35th Annual CALM Awards in Windsor, Ontario.

Chartered by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), CALM is a network of labour communicators who share ideas and technical skills to improve the way unions communicate with workers, the media, and other key audiences.

As part of its annual conference, CALM holds an awards ceremony that acknowledges communications excellence in a number of categories. This year, UFCW Canada received five CALM awards including Best Website Design, which went to UFCW Canada Local 832 for www.ufcw832.com.

Awards for Best Print Ad, Best Public Advocacy Audio-Visual Production, Best Poster, and Muckraking went to the National Office for "Doesn't Mean They're Dirt", "Witness to the Harvest Pilgrims", "Never Again", and "McGuinty's Plantation", respectively.

All labour organizations affiliated to the CLC are welcome to join CALM, and all CALM affiliates are encouraged to make submissions for as many award categories as possible.
