UFCW Canada stands with Haiti in time of need

By now most of us know that Haiti has been devastated by a massive earthquake that has killed thousands and left hundreds of thousands of survivors without the bare necessities of life. The earthquake is being reported as the largest to hit the area in over 200 years and the sheer scope of this disaster is unimaginable to most of us.

In the wake of this tragedy, thousands of Haitian-Canadians, many of whom are UFCW Canada members, are trying desperately to make contact with their loved ones on the island.

There are a number of organizations, like the Canadian Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF Canada, working hard in Haiti right now to do everything humanly possible to help the Haitian people rebuild their devastated lives.

UFCW Canada stands with Haiti in this time of need. As Canada’s largest  private-sector union, UFCW Canada is calling on all members across the country and their local unions to donate whatever they can to one of the humanitarian organizations currently making a real, meaningful, and desperately needed difference in Haiti.

With more than 250,000 members from coast to coast, our members have the ability to make a significant contribution to the relief effort in Haiti, and as the organization that has always helped people who need help the most, I know we will.

In solidarity,

Wayne Hanley

National President, UFCW Canada
